Sunday, 5th July, brought great joy, friendship and refreshment to our Cluster Football Tournament at Olton Friary. With the excitement of the FIFA World Cup inspiring football fans around the world, this was our third annual tournament, and once again it was a tremendous success.

The event was very well organised, continuing the high standard set in previous years. Adult teams from various parishes took part, while many supporters from across the cluster came to cheer them on. Throughout the day, refreshments were generously provided, and everyone enjoyed the beautiful surroundings and welcoming atmosphere of Olton Friary. The tournament once again strengthened the bonds of friendship and unity between our neighbouring parishes.

The final was contested between Holy Souls and Olton Friary. In an exciting match, Olton Friary emerged victorious over Holy Souls, renewing the friendly rivalry between our parishes. Previous winners include Wayside, who lifted the trophy last year, and Holy Souls, who were champions the year before.

A huge thank you goes to our Fundraising Committee at Olton friary for organising such a wonderful event and ensuring that everything ran so smoothly. We are also very grateful to Mr William for giving his time to referee the matches with great dedication and fairness.

In addition to the football tournament, the Olton Friary Gardening Team held a plant sale after all three Masses. A wonderful variety of plants was available, and the sale was a great success. Many thanks to Jenny and Steve for organising this fantastic event and to all the gardeners whose hard work made it possible.

It was truly a fantastic day that celebrated sport, friendship, community spirit and the beauty of Olton Friary. Thank you to everyone who participated, volunteered and supported the event. We look forward to another memorable tournament next year!
