On 14 November, the World Day of Prayer for the Poor, the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development will begin offering Laudato Si’ Planning Guides.

Laudato Si’ Planning Guides help you discern and implement your response to Laudato Si’. Your institution, community, or family is invited to make an early commitment to the planning process. By completing the registration form on the Laudato Si' Action Platform, you pledge to pursue your Laudato Si’ Plan when the plans are formally launched.

Cardinal Peter Turkson, Prefect of the Dicastery for the Promotion of Integral Human Development, has written to all church leaders, parishes and religious communities to announce 40 days of prayer and promotion for the Laudato Si’ Action Platform (LSAP) - a seven year journey of ecological conversion in action launched by Pope Francis on 25 May this year.

Cardinal Turkson said:

“We are invited to embark on this journey together, namely with the seven sectors of: families; parishes and dioceses; educational institutions (schools and universities et.al.); hospitals and healthcare centres; economy (businesses, cooperatives, farms et.al. organisations and groups (ecological communities, movements, NGOs, communications centres, foundations et.al.); religious orders (communities, provinces, orders).

“The seven-year journey of the LSAP is inspired by the integral ecological vision of the encyclical and is guided by the seven Laudato Si’ Goals: Cry of the Earth, Cry of the Poor, Ecological Economics, Simple Lifestyles, Ecological Education, Ecological Spirituality and Community Engagement with Participatory Action.”

The platform aims to create a ‘people’s movement’ to contribute to the critical mass needed for radical societal transformation

Cardinal Turkson invited all to join the platform and to actively promote it. The enrolment of participants in the platform will begin on 14 November, the Global Day of Prayer for the Poor.

He concluded:

“We have been truly inspired to see the many beautiful initiatives which continue to spring up around the world, in response to Pope Francis’ invitation. The LSAP offers both an opportunity to celebrate and develop these existing efforts whilst also inspiring and supporting communities to begin the journey towards integral ecology.

May God bless all our humble efforts for the care of our common home and the most vulnerable members of our common household, and we take the occasion to confirm our closeness and availability.”
