May Focus - for the Feast of St Joseph the Worker: What is Good Work?

United in prayer for the People of Ukraine

Psalm 31:21-24 (NRSV)
Blessed be the Lord,
for he has wondrously shown his steadfast love to me when I was beset as a city under siege.
I had said in my alarm,
“I am driven far from your sight.”
But you heard my supplications
when I cried out to you for help.
Love the Lord, all you his saints.
The Lord preserves the faithful,
but abundantly repays the one who acts haughtily.
Be strong, and let your heart take courage,
all you who wait for the Lord.
Amen.

The Meaning of Life

Bishop David Evans, Auxiliary Bishop of Birmingham, continues his new series on The Meaning of Life using the Bible and modern philosophy to help explore some big questions. Six themes, outlined below, are being explored.

Identity – it’s not all about me but about us.
Generosity – giving and giving away.
Adaptability – being and becoming.
Empathy – are we each other’s keeper?
Paradox – managing without resolution.
Community – building now and beyond.

Prayer:
Living God, you walk alongside us and speak to us throughout the Scriptures.
Your Son, Jesus Christ, listens to our hopes and fears and shows us how to live for one another.
Send us the Holy Spirit to open our hearts and minds so that we may be your witnesses throughout the world.
Amen

V. Your word is our path and your truth is our light.
