On Good Friday, as is the current custom in Walsall, members of the various town centre churches staged a costumed “Walk of Witness” along Park St., Bradford St and the part of High Street before concluding at The Bridge.

In the re-enactment, which stopped at several points on the way, Paul Hughes (in the role of Jesus) had a crown of thorns put on his head, and fell several times before being “crucified.”

At other times during the event, the crowd sang hymns appropriate for the day, and towards the end St Mary’s the Mount parishioner Patrick Kelly gave one of the readings.
