The Catenians annual Public Speaking Competition for 2022 has been launched following a two-year absence.

All Catholic secondary schools and academies across the Archdiocese of Birmingham (Catenian Province 6) are invited to enter.

The competition for Year 11, 12 and 13 students will take place on Thursday 31 March 2022 at 7.30pm at Newman University in Birmingham.

Organised by the Catenian Association, the competition invites students to talk for four minutes to be in with a chance of winning £200 for their school charity fund.

One of the principal aims of the Catenian Association is to advance the interests of young people. In our modern world it is essential that young people equip themselves with the skills to communicate clearly and effectively.

Back in action after a two-year break due to the pandemic, this will be the 35th public speaking competition.

Schools and academies can enter one or two students. They are asked to speak on a chosen topic from a published list, or on an agreed suitable subject of their own choosing.

Please register your school's intention to participate as soon as possible with Catenian Peter Harrington via email: [email protected]

A pack of entry forms with full details of adjudication rules and conditions will be sent by return.

There is a maximum of 18 places for students in the competition.

The winning school will hold the Catenian Shield Trophy for 12 months and will earn a donation of £200 for your school charity fund.
