The Coventry Christmas Crib was blessed yesterday afternoon - the first Sunday of Advent, 2nd December.

The crib is situated between the Library and W H Smith in the Precinct.

Many of the Priests and Deacons of the Deanery, and children from our Catholic schools, were present leading the prayers and singing Christmas Carols.

During the short service many shoppers stopped to see what was going on and some stood for longer.

Canon Tom Farrell, Dean of Coventry, said: “The Catholic community are proud to sponsor this crib, which we hope will remind all those visiting the shops this Christmas of the true meaning of Christmas and the birth of Christ."

This year's occasion was marked by an unusually warm December evening.
