A member of the Catholic Students Chaplaincy in Oxford is aiming to raise £2,500 to ensure the continuing education for seven engineering students at the Don Bosco Institute of Technology (DBIT).

Organiser Dr Colin Viegas has launched a JustGiving to fund the fees of the students.

“Like many other people, these students are going through a difficult financial period because of uncertainties due to the ongoing pandemic,” said Dr Viegas, an Alumni of DBIT.

“Even after it being so many years since I left the Institute, I still fondly remember my days as a student and the role my teachers had in making me the person I am today.

“And it's the humility with which my teachers requested for help that made me feel obligated to do the little I can to financially support these students, just like I was during my studies.”

Dr Viegas completed his undergraduate studies in 2009 from DBIT and came to the UK on a scholarship to do a Masters and PhD.

He is a member of the Catholic Students Chaplaincy in Oxford and a parishioner of Corpus Christi and St Anthony of Padua in Oxford.
