It was celebrations all round at St John Henry Newman Parish as LiveSimply awards were handed out from CAFOD.

Bishop Stephen Wright, Auxiliary Bishop for the Archdiocese of Birmingham, is also the recently appointed chair of CAFOD, the official aid agency of the Catholic Church in England and Wales.

He attended a recent May Devotions at St Mary’s Catholic Church, Willenhall, and took the opportunity to present the LiveSimply awards.

St John Henry Newman Parish is four Catholic Churches working together as one parish. Following Christ and serving the people of Bilston, Darlaston, Willenhall and Wolverhampton (East Park):

Holy Trinity, Bilston; St Joseph's, Darlaston; St Mary's, Willenhall; St Joseph's, Wolverhampton.

This did not mark the end of the campaign to be a more LiveSimply parish, but was an opportunity to acknowledge the journey so far.

The LiveSimply award is an opportunity for Catholic communities - parishes, schools, religious orders and chaplaincies - to respond to Pope Francis’ invitation in Laudato Si' to “work with generosity and tenderness in protecting this world which God has entrusted to us”.

The LiveSimply award is earned by communities and schools who can show how they have been living:
simply
in solidarity with people in poverty
sustainably with creation.

The award celebrates what you have already done and inspires you to do more. It helps your community to live, not just more simply, but also more fully.

Many of our parishes and schools are on the LiveSimply journey. Find out more at CAFOD
