The annual Mass for deceased clergy of the Coventry Deanery was celebrated on Tuesday 12 November.

This year’s Mass was at St Anne's Church on the Feast of St Josaphat Bishop and Martyr.

Fr David Gnosill, Parish Priest, welcomed everybody.

Many of the priests were present along with representatives from all parishes across the Deanery.

Fr David delivered the sermon reflecting on Martyrdom - not only that of St Josaphat, but also more recently Fr Jacques Hamel from France.  These Blessed Martyrs gave and continue to give, he said, strength to all of us to bear witness to Christ in our own ministry and vocation. He also reflected on those gone before him and his own priestly ministry.

Following Mass there were refreshments in the parish hall provided by parishioners of St John Fisher.

Canon Tom Farrell, Dean of Coventry Deanery, said: “The Coventry Deanery welcomed the opportunity to pray for the deceased clergy of the deanery, and moving the meeting to the evening allowed a good number of people from around the parishes to attend the Mass and meet together afterwards over the buffet provided. Our thanks to St Anne’s and St John Fisher parishes."
