As One - free resources and Community Partnership

You may already have seen some of the 2,000 large vinyl banners “Fill your street with Friendliness” that are starting to be displayed around Birmingham, Walsall, Dudley and across Worcestershire.

What you may not know is that this highly innovative partnership with the four local authorities, schools, GP surgeries and others, has actually been initiated by churches or all denominations working together.

Although not overtly religious, there is something of seizing the moment of the Commonwealth Games in the Midlands this summer as well as the national events to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Especially in the light of two years where opportunities for parish gatherings have been limited, this summer and these events might suggest the possibility of an outdoor occasion (e.g. picnic lunch) in your parishes and neighbourhoods.

If you would like to request a free banner for your church or school, simply send a message to the nearest location to you from this list below:

As with all such neighbourhood initiatives it can be good when local churches of different denominations are displaying the same message so please share this initiative within your local churches together groups.

As One

As one is an alliance of community organisations, faith organisations, local authorities, businesses, schools and residents, united in the belief that this is a key time to harness the surge of community spirit brought about by Covid 19, rather than see it disappear. There is seen to be a once-in-a-generation opportunity here and we are determined to do what we can to seize it! Longer term, As One is about continuing to encourage and support the development of real, vibrant, community, street-by-street, across the UK.
