Deacon Sean Loone has just released his latest literary work, ‘When Love Came Down – Finding Christ in the Sunday Gospels of Advent and Christmas’.

Profits raised from book sales will benefit the work of the St Vincent de Paul (SVP) group at Deacon Sean’s parish, Our Lady of the Wayside in Shirley.

This is Deacon Sean’s fifth book to date where he has donated profits to charity. So far his book sales have raised more than £6,000 for Catholic charities.

Father Andrew Franklin, Parish Priest at Our Lady of the Wayside, delivers the Foreword in the book.

“In his writings Deacon Sean has sought to help spread the Gospel to the world at large, encouraging the reader to not only read about the faith but to go out, and live it as well, through practical language, and simple faith.”

Deacon Sean lectures part-time at St Mary’s College, Oscott, and also works in several schools as Chaplain and RE advisor.

He said of his latest work: “I wanted to encourage people to spend time lovingly with the scriptures, deepening their relationship with Christ. At the same time, my intention was to write a book which would be an aid to preaching, teaching, and as a resource for parish study groups. Ultimately, I simply felt the need to write something which was challenging, whilst at the same time being readable and accessible, that people could relate to their daily lives of faith.

“Having donated all the profits from my most recent book to the international Catholic charity, CAFOD, this time I decided to support our recently set-up, and parish-based, SVP group. Helping people in the local community suffering financial hardship seemed most appropriate, especially in the run-up to Christmas.”

In March 2022 Deacon Sean published 'Words of Life - The Parables of Jesus for People Today’. This has sold 1,096 copies to date and seen £2,422 donated to CAFOD’s Ukraine appeal.

In July 2021 Deacon Sean issued 'Servants of the Word: 'The Gospel of Christ and the Call to Discipleship’. This has sold 270 copies and resulted in a donation of £500.58 to Father Hudson’s Care.

'Sharing in the Life of God - A Journey Into the Real Meaning of Easter’ was published in January 2021 and has sold 402 copies. The donation to the Father O'Mahony Memorial Trust stands at £1,324.09.

Released in July 2020 'Only in the Crucified God - Questions and Answers on Faith, Hope and Love’ has sold 629 copies and seen £1,774.41 donated to CAFOD.
