Families of people living at St Joseph’s Care Home, Coleshill, are rallying behind the key workers who cared for their loved ones during the most difficult days of the pandemic.

Like all Care homes across the country, St Joseph’s was hit hard by the pandemic. Despite this, the team at St Joseph’s have remained strong and continued to provide compassion and care for their residents and families. They have gone, and continue to go, above and beyond the call of duty to look after the people they are entrusted to care for.

Inspired by the unwavering care provided by the staff who continued to work through lockdown, families asked Father Hudson’s Care for a way to say thank you by setting up a staff fund.

Families, friends, and well-wishers have donated to the fund, and staff in other departments held fundraising events for their colleagues. In just a few short months, the fund totalled more than £5,000.

One donor said, “It has been so reassuring to know that my dear mum has been loved and cared for over these past few months. Thank you to all the staff concerned.” Another said, “If Mum was able, she would want to thank you all for your help and dedication. So I would like to show appreciation for your hard work.”

The donations were divided up between St Joseph’s staff and presented in the form of a voucher. Several carers said it was a touching and heart-warming gesture.

One said, “I would just like to say, to all who donated to St Joseph’s staff fund, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. In these unprecedented times we have all come together to support your loved ones and go above and beyond. We feel very privileged to be able to care and support your loved ones through these difficult times. Once again thank you with all our hearts from all the staff at St Joseph’s.”

Andy Quinn Chief Executive Officer at Father Hudson’s said, “It is at a time like this that you realise just how courageous and compassionate your staff team is and what inspiring leaders we have at St Joseph’s. The trust placed in us by the families means so much.”
