Bishop David Evans and Archbishop Bernard Longley took part in the second annual Summit of Church Leaders of the West Midlands on Sunday 1 and Monday 2 October 2023 at the Woodbrooke Centre in Birmingham.

The Church Leaders recommitted themselves to work and witness together for the common good during the coming year.

Over 20 senior leaders and representatives of West Midlands Churches met representing the Archdiocese of Birmingham; the Church of England Dioceses of Hereford, Worcester, Birmingham and Lichfield; the Birmingham, Wolverhampton/Shrewsbury and Chester/Stoke-on-Trent Methodist Districts, the Heart of England Baptist Association, the West Midlands Synod of the United Reformed Church, the West Midlands Division of the Salvation Army, Central England Quakers, Assemblies of God and the Redeemed Christian Church of God.

Building on the success of the summit held in October 2022, the leaders spent significant time in prayer and conversation on issues of relevance and importance.

A further regional gathering is planned for the autumn of 2024.
