Restoration work at St Wulstan’s Church in Little Malvern has been on hold since early last year, but now the next phase, being the specialist cleaning of its three large stained-glass windows, is scheduled to start soon.

The church, where Sir Edward Elgar and members of his family are buried, features a beautiful baptistery, as well as these magnificent windows which were designed and made between 1882 and 1892 by Birmingham-based Hardman Studios.

Further funds are needed to meet the cost of this work, for which purpose a range of attractive Christmas cards, depicting scenes in the stained-glass windows of The Nativity and The Annunciation, are now available.

St Wulstan’s parishioner, Charlotte Carver, said: “During the pandemic many of us have seen less of our friends and family than we would wish, a situation that is likely to continue for some time to come. So this Christmas it’s more important than ever to make the effort to let them know they are in our thoughts.

“The exchange of Christmas cards is a time-honoured way to show how much we care, by sending a wave through the post, to let them know we are thinking of them to the extent that we’ve made the effort to keep in touch. So even if you only write a few words, your card will help to strengthen your relationships and bring you closer together.”

Costing £4 for a pack of 10, these cards can be purchased online through the dedicated website or via The Christmas Card Store on 01684 592179.

Every penny raised will go towards this phase of the restoration work.
