The celebrations for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee at Christ the King had a number of activities over the long weekend.

On Friday 3 June there was a Family Fun Day on the church car park, the school playground and in the parish centre. The photographs show that this was very well attended.

This was followed by a Flower Festival in the church on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 June. This also included some displays by the children from the school. All this with tea and cake for all visitors. The photographs show how much time and effort had been put in by the many involved.

On Sunday tea and cake was available after each of the Sunday morning Masses.

Those attending included parishioners with friends and neighbours.

Many of the parishioners helped by providing cakes and scones as well as making the and coffee.

Canon Tom Farrell said: “I am grateful to all of those who have helped mark the occasion. The PTA and the school and the Parish Centre organised the Family Fun Day. We have also enjoyed the Flower Festival and tea and cakes over the weekend.

"Our thanks to Tracey O’Connor and Sarah Pittaway and all of the flower arrangers and those providing refreshments."
