For the last five years St Joseph's, Whitnash, has been the home of Fr Ramunas Gerdauskas, the Lithuanian Chaplain in the Archdiocese.

Fr Ramunas is very much a missionary priest as he ministers to the Lithuanian Communities in Birmingham, Wolverhampton and Manchester to name but a few.

This week we were pleased to welcome Bishop Darius Trijonis, the Auxiliary Bishop of Vilnius, Fr Ramunas' home diocese.

Bishop Darius came to see how Fr Ramunas is getting on (they were classmates in the seminary!) and to visit the Lithuanian Communities in Gloucester and Birmingham.

On Monday (17 Feb) Bishop Darius celebrated Mass at St Joseph's and we were joined by Mgr Daniel McHugh, Diocesan Ethnic Chaplaincy Co-ordinator, who gave the homily, reflecting on his own experience of visiting Lithuania and the way in which the Catholic Church, which was once persecuted in Lithuania, now has the same freedom as we do to spread the Gospel.

We were delighted to welcome both Bishop Darius and Mgr Daniel and we pray for the Lithuanian Mission both here in Birmingham and the communities around the country which it serves.
