Everyone is born into a family and the Church recognises the need to accompany families in order for all to strengthen their love for one another as well as building a relationship with God.

Families, themselves, can often be the first place we turn to for support and encouragement so it is vital that through the work of family ministry there is the assistance from organisations and agencies, alongside parishes, to meet those various needs.

Family ministry is there to assist, advise and support people regardless of what stage of family life they are at.

As Pope Francis said ‘no family drops down from heaven perfectly formed’ and the dynamic of family life has changed greatly in recent years.

The one thing that still remains is a yearning to love and to be loved, and the Church is here to embrace each and every family no matter what situation they find themselves in.

Family Ministry covers a number of areas within the Archdiocese of Birmingham including parish-based programmes, school initiatives and ongoing formation, as well as signposting individuals according to what help or advice they need and the challenges they may be faced with.
