What is Gift Aid?
Gift Aid is a government scheme that benefits registered charities without any cost to you. It means we can claim back the basic rate tax (25%) on every £1 donated to us by UK tax payers during the past 4 years, and any future donations until further notice.
Gift Aid is available to all UK taxpayers, as long as the amount you pay in Capital Gains or Income tax is greater than the total amount charities you donate to will reclaim in any tax year.
Why should I Gift Aid?
Gift Aid increases your support without any extra cost to you. Just by confirming Gift Aid your £4 donation will mean the Archdiocese receives £5 and your £10 donation will turn into £12.50. No matter how much you give, using Gift Aid makes a real difference to us.
Paying Higher Tax
Gift Aid is only reclaimed at the basic rate of 20%. If you pay a higher rate of income tax, you can claim the difference between the higher rate and the basic rate of tax on the total ‘gross’ value of your donation. Claims can be made on self-assessment tax returns. For more information, visit the HMRC website.
