On Thursday 4th October, the children of Saint Ambrose’s Catholic Primary School, Kidderminster, were well and truly blessed as the sun shone down on their Animal Blessing Service.

This marked the Feast day of Saint Francis of Assisi, who is the patron Saint of animals.

It was a wonderful occasion as parents and parishioners joined the children on the playground with their pets, which included dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, African land snails and a baby tortoise. Thirty in total, everyone had a wonderful time.

The school thanked Father Douglas Lamb, for generously giving his time, to come over and conduct the ceremony.

He said: “I was thrilled to see so many people with their pets, looking at the joy on their faces."
