Hundreds of people gathered at the Syro-Malabar Parish of Our Lady of Perpetual Help to celebrate Palm Sunday.

A Catechetical session for 300 young people, followed by the Procession and Mass of Palm Sunday, took place in St Joseph’s Church, Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent.

The Parish Priest, Fr George Ettuparayil, invited the Diocesan Co-ordinator of Ethnic Chaplaincies, Mgr Daniel McHugh, to visit the Catechetical session to talk with the Catechists and the young people, and to preach at the Palm Sunday Mass – attended by over 700 people.

It was a very joyous occasion with families coming from Stoke itself, Crewe and Stafford.

Mgr McHugh was made very welcome by the Kerala people.

In his introduction, Fr George said: “Archbishop Bernard has a special love for the people of Kerala and has sent Mgr McHugh to show this.”

In preparation for Palm Sunday, Mgr McHugh visited Fr George and interviewed him:
