Newman University is seeking to appoint a new Chancellor.  The previous Chancellor was Cardinal Cormac Murphy O’Connor. With Professor Jackie Dunne now in post as its new Vice-Chancellor the search for a Chancellor has re-commenced.

The Chancellor is the ceremonial head of the University, an ambassador and advocate for Newman who will attend graduation and other events as a communicator and model of Newman University’s values.

The University Council seeks a Chancellor who is a duly qualified Roman Catholic, who has made a contribution to national life and who reflects the values of the University embodied in the work of Pope Francis:  tolerance, respect, a mission of service and a welcome to those of different and no faith backgrounds.

The Chair of Council, Jonathan Day, welcomes any suggestions of potential candidates, with the assurance that these will be treated with sensitivity and confidentiality. Please email any suggestions to [email protected]  by the 31st August.
