Latest News New website to help God’s call be heard across the Archdiocese of Birmingham “Ask God, ‘What do you want from me?’ - and allow God to answer you.” – Pope Francis Today (Wed 24 Feb), the Diocesan Vocations Office has launched our all-new website. With a fresh, new look, simplified navigation, and improved, inspiring and relevant content, we hope it will be an invaluable resource for those all across the Archdiocese of Birmingham and beyond in helping the beauty of God’s plan for each and every one of us be revealed. With clear information and signposts to useful resources and people to contact, the Diocesan Vocations Office website should be the first port of call for those discerning a vocation to the priesthood or permanent diaconate in the Archdiocese of Birmingham, and also for those considering the religious life, marriage or apostolic celibacy (a committed single life). A key feature of the website is the Vocation Stories section. This covers vocations to the priesthood, diaconate, religious life, marriage and apostolic celibacy. Alongside articles and information, we have a large collection of video clips, including from our seminarians, priests, deacons and religious. They speak about their call, discernment process, the joys and challenges of their life, and also answer questions that many ask about their vocation. We will regularly be adding to this library of videos, which can also be found on our new Vocations YouTube channel. For our parishes, schools and university chaplaincies, there is a Vocation Promotion section with clear information about the practical help the Diocesan Vocations Office offers to help build up a culture of vocation. We have pages dedicated to prayer for vocations, in which we “Ask the lord of the harvest to send labourers into his harvest.” (Matthew 9:38) There is a dedicated section for the Guild of Saint Stephen. The Diocesan Vocations Office supports altar servers by providing opportunities for them to be trained, formed in their faith and celebrated for their service of God and others – details can be found in our Guild Events page. We support parishes by providing goods (such as Guild medals), liturgical resources for enrolling servers and information about the Guild. There is a page for those who wish to support our future priests and deacons by donating to the Clergy Training Fund.
