On Saturday April 24th.  Bishop Stephen Wright came to bless 12 walkers as they set out from the Diocesan Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes in Hednesford to walk to the Church of St Chad in Stafford along the Two Saints way. This is the second of a series of walks to raise money for the Hednesford Shrine Appeal.

They took with them an Icon of St. Chad, blessed in Lichfield Cathedral by Bishop Stephen and the Dean. A pause was made on Cannock Chase to pray at the Katyn Memorial to the approximately 22000 Poles murdered by the Soviet NKVD in 1940.

The walkers were met by Revd Prebendary Richard Grigson, the Anglican Rector of Stafford, and Canon Michael Neylon, the Dean of Stafford. Prayers were said in St. Chad’s Church by Fr. Richard and Canon Michael along with Fr. Jeremy Howard and Deacon Peter Tibke of the Parish of our Lady of Lourdes Hednesford.

The Shrine Appeal is seeking to improve the security of the Shrine and Grounds and to support work with local homeless people.
