To celebrate 50 golden years, St Mary's Catholic Academy in Norton is inviting pupils past and present to a special Mass this month.

Bishop David McGough, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Birmingham, will celebrate Mass at St Mary's Catholic Church on Monday 17 September at 10.30am.

This will be followed by a buffet at the school, on Ford Green Road.

This special event kickstarts the build up to the church's Golden Jubilee on 24 September 2019.

The church relocated from its former setting in Brierley Street, Smallthorne, in 1969. The school as its known today was opened a year before.

As part of the celebrations, there are plans to publish a book of the history of the church and school.

If you have any photos and recollections, or would be prepared to take part in an interview with pupils from the school, please contact the Head of School, Mrs Rathbone, at  [email protected]
