Giving thanks after recovering from Covid-19

Fr Michael Stack was very happy to return to Christ the King Parish in Coventry to give thanks for his recovery from Covid-19.

He said Mass over the weekend of 29/30 August to thank God for his recovery and to express gratitude to the parishioners who had offered prayers for him. He recognised that many had been joining in Mass and prayer over the parish webcam these last months and was pleased to speak to those in church and those still joining from home.

Having been a hospital chaplain in various hospitals across the diocese Fr Michael recognised the wonderful care he had received and the skill of all those in the NHS.

Fr Michael was a hospital chaplain for 25 years in the George Elliot in Nuneaton, New Cross in Wolverhampton, the Queen Elizabeth in Birmingham and the University Hospital in Coventry.

The author of a book of reflections ‘Lord, When did we see you sick’, Fr Michael now feels he has been the recipient of the kind of care outlined in his book 

Fr Michael paid tribute to the wonderful staff at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King’s Lynn who looked after him.  He was in hospital for 10 weeks and in critical care for 36 days. He was able to return to the hospital to thank the staff.

He received many cards and messages of support. One of the many that touched him was a picture (below) from Daisy, who he met after Mass at Christ the King to thank her in person.

Fr Michael will be retiring but will keep his links to the parish with regular visits.
