Long-standing Sacred Heart, Rugby parishioner, Veronica York, has had her years of dedicated service to the parish recognised with the presentation by Bishop William Kenney of the Birmingham Diocese award “Ubi Caritas”.

“Ubi Caritas” – “Where there is love and loving kindness, God is there” - is a special award given in recognition of Veronica's devoted service to and participation in many different aspects of parish life over many years. These include the Caring Group, visiting and supporting housebound and sick parishioners; acting as Eucharistic Minister at Mass and various activities in support of Justice and Peace. She has been a contact and organiser of parish support for CAFOD; has promoted the purchase of Fairtrade and organic products; organised parishioner support for Prisoners of Conscience and she played a part in Sacred Heart becoming a Live Simply Parish.

“Veronica has given us a gentle and determined example of seeking to live out the Gospel in our daily lives and facing the issues of the day,” said Sacred Heart Parish Priest Fr Gerry Murray.
