Christmas card sales to support next phase of church restoration

Restoration work on St Wulstan's Church in Little Malvern has continued this year, but more funds are needed for the next phase which includes specialist cleaning of its three large stained-glass windows.

The church is home to the graves of Sir Edward Elgar and his family, and inside features a beautiful baptistery, and three magnificent stained-glass windows designed and made by Birmingham-based Hardman Studios in the 1880s.

Through 2020, the north-facing exterior of the church has been cleaned, repaired and re-pointed, and the work continues inside.  However, further funds are now needed to recommence the work next year.

Once again, a range of attractive St Wulstan's Church Christmas cards are available, the proceeds from which will support the much-needed repairs. The cards feature scenes from two of the stained-glass windows - The Nativity and The Annunciation. 

A pack of 10 cards is £4, and every penny will be going towards the restoration works.

Parishioner Charlotte Carver said: "This year there are going to be far fewer opportunities to pick up charity Christmas cards: many fairs have been cancelled, including our own Christmas Bazaar, and the charity Christmas card shop in Avenue Road, Malvern, will not be opening.

"We've all seen far less of our friends and family than we would have liked this year, and the situation is set to continue for a while yet. So this Christmas it's more important than ever that we make the effort to let our loved ones know we are thinking of them. The exchange of Christmas cards is one time-honoured way to show how much we care."
