The Society of St Vincent de Paul Birmingham Central Council covering the Birmingham Archdiocese has two vacancies – for a Council Secretary and Council Treasurer. Both roles are voluntary. You do not need to be a member of the SVP to apply.

The SVP is well known as a parish based practical service for those in need. Success depends on the huge team of volunteers on the front line but supporting them requires administrative and financial support in the background. These roles provide essential support to the Central Council President.

The Council Secretary is responsible to for all the administrative affairs of the Council – preparing and circulating agendas, keeping minutes of meetings, dealing with correspondence and maintaining non-financial records.

The Council Treasurer is responsible for the financial affairs of the Council -- this involves preparing budgets, keeping accounts, receiving, recording and banking income, paying properly authorised members’ expenses and bills, reporting regularly to the Central Council and the Society’s National Office.

Both the secretary and the treasurer would need to attend the Central Council meetings which take place in Birmingham on a Wednesday evening every two months.

If you would like to find out more about these excellent volunteering opportunities then please contact Birmingham Central Council President Clare O’Brien at [email protected]
