The Parish of St Philip Neri, Messenger Road, Smethwick, B66 3DU celebrates its 125th anniversary in 2018.
On Saturday 17th March 1-3 p.m. in the parish centre, Watt Street, Smethwick (next to the church) we are inviting anyone with memories of the church or school to come to a special coffee afternoon and display of archives. We especially welcome anyone with old photos, programmes or memories and/or who may be able to help identify people or events in photos we have.
We will be using some of these memories to create a display and commemorative booklet in preparation for a celebration Mass on Sunday 10th June at 12 noon. The Mass will be celebrated by Archbishop Bernard Longley and we hope that as many past parishioners, pupils and staff from the school as well as people who were baptised or married at the church will attend to share in the celebrations.
The Catholic network being as strong as it is, we kindly ask that people pass on this message to anyone they know who may have past connections with the church. If you have never been to this beautiful church which has strong connections with Blessed (Cardinal) John Henry Newman and the hymn writer Edward Caswall, you are also warmly invited to the coffee afternoon on 17th March as well as the celebration Mass on 10th June.
For more information or, if you have any photos or documents or memories connected with the church, please see our website http://www.stphilipsparish.co.uk and contact 0121 558 1065 or email@example.com
