Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem, Midlands Section

Knights and Dames of the Midlands Section of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem gathered at Maryvale Institute, Old Oscott Hill, Birmingham on 25th July 2017 to attend Mass during which their new Section President Joseph Smiles KCHS was installed and thanksgiving was also offered for the work of his predecessor Peter Horgan KSG KGCHS.

The Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem exists under Papal constitution to sustain and aid the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem and to be at the service of the ‘Living Stones’ in the Holy Land.

Mass was celebrated by the Section Prior, Most Reverend Bernard Longley KC*HS Archbishop of Birmingham other concelebrants included Right Reverend David McGough KC*HS Auxiliary Bishop of Birmingham and Right Reverend Alan Hopes KC*HS Bishop of East Anglia along with Father Edward Clare, Maryvale Institute Director and four further concelebrants.  Members of the Birmingham Oratory also assisted at Mass.

The Lieutenant for England and Wales His Excellency Michael Byrne KC*HS was also in attendance emphasising the significance of the event within the life of the Order.
