Prayer for the Papal Visit to UK
16-19TH September 2010
God of truth and love, your Son, Jesus Christ, stands as the light to all who seek you with a sincere heart.
As we strive with your grace to be faithful in word and deed, may we reflect the kindly light of Christ and offer a witness of hope and peace to all.
We pray for Pope Benedict and look forward with joy to his forthcoming visit to our countries.
May he be a witness to the unity and hope which is your will for all people.
We make our prayer through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Announcement (18th
July 2010) from Bishop David McGough
Archbishop
Bernard and his Council of advisers are keenly aware that the Parish of Our
Lady in Fenton have been without a parish priest for some considerable time.
We
wish to thank Fr. Tynan, Deacon Tony, Father Weatherby and
surrounding clergy for providing, and continuing to provide, for the needs of the
Parish during this
difficult time.
In
the present circumstances, with an increasing number of parishes without a
priest throughout the Archdiocese, we are unable to provide a resident priest for
the parish in Fenton.
We
are therefore taking steps to ensure that the Parish continues under the care
of a priest from a neighbouring parish.
These
arrangements are yet to be finalised, and will be communicated to you
in due course — probably after the Holy Father's imminent visit to the Diocese.
When
arrangements are made for a priest to care for two parishes, it is
usually necessary to enable this by a reduction in the number of masses.
It is
therefore with great sadness that we announce that beginning on August 14th
there will no longer be a Saturday evening mass at Fenton.
We appreciate that changes in Mass times will always cause difficulties.
While askingfor your prayers in these difficult times, we would be
happy to hear your views, either through the Dean or by letter to Bishop McGough.
To discuss proposals of the
diocesea meeting has been arranged for this
Wednesday at 7.30pm either in the centre or in the church.Fr Peter will be attending and all are welcome. Please come along and share your views. The contact arrangements for the bishop will
be available at the meeting and on next weeks news letter.
Baptismal Font. You will remember that twelve month or so ago
we had several collections which we hoped would go towards the purchase of a
new font. You will be glad to know that
after discussion with Fr. Peter and several parishioners on different ideas we
have now ordered a new font (5/6 wks delivery). It is wooden and will be
stained walnut colour and will be placed by the paschal candle.A picture is on the notice board in the porch
