Bicentenary of the Sacred Heart Shrine

June 19, 2014 8:00pm Maryvale House,
Old Oscott Hill,
B44 9AG

In 1814 Bishop Milner, Vicar Apostolic of the Midland District, returned from Rome, bringing with him the image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in stained glass which now forms the centre of the window in the Sacred Heart shrine chapel. We believe that this is the first image of the Sacred Heart to be established publicly in England so to celebrate the bicentenary of the shrine, Archbishop Bernard Longley will celebrate the Solemn Pilgrimage Mass on Sunday 29th. June at 3.00 pm followed by the procession and benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. From Thursday 19th to Friday 27th June there will be a novena of Masses celebrated at 8.00pm by the bishops  and priests of the diocese. All are most welcome to any of these celebrations. PILGRIMAGE AFTERNOON: Sunday 29th June 3.00pm Open-air Mass and Procession of the Blessed Sacrament in honour of the Sacred Heart. ·  Coach parties are welcome ·  Refreshments available Download the poster here
