A Welcome Return for Bishop Robert

On Thursday 16 February Bishop Robert Byrne, Auxiliary Bishop of Birmingham made a welcome return to Our Lady Help of Christians, Kitts Green to administer the Sacrament of Confirmation. In his opening remarks Bishop Robert said that the first time he had visited the church was back in 1984 for the ordination of Fr John O’Brien now the Parish Priest for the neighbouring Parish of Guardian Angles, Shard End. Since then; in more recent years, he has made a number of visits to both the Parish and the Parish school which he said he equally and keenly looks forward to.

Over twenty confirmandi mainly from Year 6 of the Parish primary School, Our Lady’s; were confirmed by Bishop Robert assisted by Parish Priest Fr Anthony Pham-Tri-Van and the church was full to witness the special occasion. After the service Bishop Robert in conversation with the Head Teacher of Our Lady’s; Mrs Mary Johnson said he was particularly impressed by the exceptional behaviour of the children and thanked their class teacher Miss Sarah Cahill and Teaching Assistant Miss Leanne Lynch for all the hard work they had done in preparing the children to receive the Sacrament.
